The Girlie Show, 14 years ago today
On September 25, 1993 Madonna hit the stage of the Wembley Stadium to kick off her sensational Girlie Show tour.
Created with her 1992 “Erotica” album in mind, the Girlie Show is somehow Madonna’s most truly “world tour” so far, bringing the Queen of Pop to the five inhabited continents, from Europe and the Middle East (with shows in London, Paris, Tel Aviv and Istanbul ), to North and South America (Toronto, New York, Philadelphia, Auburn Hills, Montreal, Bayamon, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Rio De Janeiro, Mexico City), to Oceania (Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and again Sidney, Australia) and Asia (Fukuoka and Tokyo in Japan).
Along the years the Madonna Tribe Team had the chance to relive the magic of the Girlie Show – a tour named after a 1941 oil-painting by American artist Edward Hopper portraiting a burlesque dancer – by talking to some of the talents who teamed up with Madonna and helped her creating one of her fan favourite’s live experience.
With lighting designer Peter Morse, choreographer Alex Magno, and dancers Carlton Wilborn and Luca Tommassini, stop by at Madonna Tribe’s Exclusive Interviews sections to relive these first 14 years of Madonna’s Girlie Show.
