Madonna‘s first book sold 8,000 copies in the UK in its first week
The second children’s book written by pop singer Madonna is being published on Monday.

Mr Peabody’s Apples, featuring illustrations by Loren Long, is about a teacher wrongly accused of theft.
The book is set at a baseball game, and described by publisher Puffin as having “an American retro feel”.
Madonna‘s first children’s book, The English Roses, was published earlier this year and has sold more than 500,000 copies worldwide.
The second book will have an initial print run of 130.000, according to book trade website Bookseller.com.

Copies of Madonna’s first book had been sold at the clothing store Gap, but it is unknown whether the second book will be available there.

Mr Peabody’s Apples will be followed in March next year by a third book, Yakov and the Seven Thieves, with two more volumes to be follow in June and September, Bookseller.com reported.
The book, Puffin said, “is about the importance of truth and centres around a baseball game” but would also have relevance to British audiences.
Madonna launched her book in September in front of a group of invited children and friends at a London bookshop.

In a review of The English Roses for BBC News Online, children’s poet Michael Rosen wrote: “Madonna takes on the voice of a slightly bossy teacher, telling her readers to not interrupt and to listen carefully.
