Broadway revival for
David Mamet‘s Speed-the-Plow may be heading back to Broadway.
Variety reports that Matthew Warchus has signed on to direct Mamet’s scathing look at Hollywood. If the right cast can be found in time, the Araca Group would produce the three-person play this spring. Warchus’ last Broadway outing was Life x 3, the Yasmina Reza play that co-starred Helen Hunt and John Turturro.
Warchus also directed the recent Broadway revivals of True West and Follies as well as the New York premiere of Art. On film, he’s directed “Simpatico.” Warchus received Best Director Tony nominations for the aforementioned productions of Art and True West.
Lincoln Center’s production of Speed-the-Plow played the Royale Theatre May 1998-December 1998. The original cast featured Madonna, Joe Mantegna and Ron Silver under the direction of Gregory Mosher. Silver won a Tony for his performance
