BBC1‘s Big Read TV show (which culminated in The Lord of the Rings topping the list) showed random clips of celebrities being asked what their favourite books were.

A clip of Madonna from the English Roses tea party was shown and in it she said: “Captain Correlli’s Mandolin. I keep going back to it, re-reading it.”
