Et’s 2003 scandals top Five

Madonna is on ET’s top ten of 2003 “scandals” at number 5.

5. The kiss – Britney Spears and Madonna locking lips; the open-mouthed deed will undoubtedly go down in MTV Video Music Award history as one of the most-talked-about moments of the 2003 awards. The jaw-dropping event began with an opening number on the show in which Britney and Christina Aguilera strutted out of a wedding cake, singing “Like A Virgin.” The original Material Girl then joined in and proceeded to kiss both blushing brides. The next day, an image of Madonna and Britney locking lips was distributed worldwide. While preparing for the infamous awards show, Madonna and Britney also decided to record “Me Against the Music” together, the first song off Britney’s new album, In the Zone.
“I was at the rehearsals for the VMA’s and I played [Madonna] the song,” Britney told ET. “She said she really liked it and I said ‘You want to do it with me?’” The rest is history.
