Liz Smith on Gap and English Roses
From the Liz Smith column:
The New York Times asks, at length, if Madonna‘s new Gap TV spots with Missy Elliott will translate into retail sales? Is the star still a trend-setter? Who knows? But, like her recent “Hollywood” video, the Gap ads show that despite marriage, motherhood and the Kaballah, M can still camp it up.
Now, if only she keeps it light when she’s plugging her children’s books, which I hear are charming and wise. (Madonna gets really serious when talking about the Kaballah and how fame, money, etc., are nothing. Sure, love is the answer, but until she starts eating rice from a bowl in Tibet …)
