Ruminated out loud the other day, reading a scathing column that Madonna hadn’t done herself any favors kissing Britney Spears at the MTV Video Music Awards. “I think she hurt her book,” I said to no one in particular. Then came news that “The English Roses” will be No. 1 on The New York Times children’s book list Sunday, and it’s a huge seller internationally. There’s no accounting for anything, when it comes to M. And no counting her out.
Next up – the rest of her children’s books and – fans hope – an album less darkly introspective than “American Life.” Nobody does “get up on your feet and dance” better than Madonna. One tip – no more techno-sound. Let’s hear the human voice again, M.
