Madonna In Blender
In the latest issue of Blender (January) Madonna is mentioned. Here is the review of Remixed and Revisited.
Deposed Queen of Pop’s American Life has no second act on remix quickie.
The Material Girl’s seven track semi comes too soon for a stopgap (indeed she is contractually barred from stopping the Gap) but too late to clear fans’ palates of the sour American Life. Mostly, it’s just bad aftertaste. The only stroke of genius is a remix of “American Life” by American DJ Headcleanr redoubling the notoriously lame rap and riding it down a generic thrash, middle fingers waving. Chutzpah! An old hat, old hit-cum-advertising soundtrack and “new song” follow, after the ill concieved inclusion of the live Britney/Xtina/Missy VMA four way on “Like A Virgin/Hollywood” (rather tragic without the video track). Perhaps Madonna’s hoping to be confused with one of them. She should be so lucky; the greatest star is history is now just a kiss away from settling into the role of “the American Kylie Minogue.” Two Stars.
