Moms, Dads Line Up To See Material Girl
Two hundred and fifty people had some brief one-on-one time with Madonna, Monday, September 29th.
They won the privilege of spending 14 seconds each with the pop singer turned author as she handed them signed copies of her new children’s book, “The English Roses.”
Even though it’s a children’s book, many of the people waiting on line to see her at the Rockefeller Center Barnes and Noble were adults.
They say they’re interested to see what the singer has in store for kids who may not know who she is.
“Probably children have been banned from seeing Madonna, and now she’s trying to write a children’s book. So the irony of that is unbelievable,” said one fan. “A lot of kids probably don’t know her, because they’re banned from watching her videos, and some of her music is certainly racy.”
“She’s certainly tapping a market she hasn’t tapped before and as a father I’m interested to see what it’s about and what it has to say,” said another fan.
“The English Roses” is the first in a series of books the singer is writing. It was released worldwide two weeks ago and is number one on the New York Times Children’s Picture Book Bestseller List.
