Roses to hit number 1 next Sunday
Monday, September 29, 2003
It’s always inspiring when a first-time writer breaks out of the anonymous slush pile and rises to No. 1 on the best-seller list. So you’ve really got to hand it to Madonna, who didn’t let her pop-star fame and grandstanding MTV kiss stand in the way of her success as a children’s author.
Her week-old story, “The English Roses,” about four envious girls who learn compassion, is No. 7 on the USA Today best-seller list and will be ranked No. 1 on next Sunday’s New York Times list.
Now, squelch that envy or we’ll assign a book report.
