T in the Park
From the Daily Record:
T IN The Park boss Geoff Ellis is lining up Madonna to headline next year’s T in the Park festival.
Organisers have confirmed they are already in talks with the superstar singer’s management in a bid to bring her to the 2004 Balado weekender.
Ellis has spent the last four years courting Madonna in a bid to bring her to Scotland’s favourite festival and he now believes she will come to the event.
He also hopes Madonna as a headlining act would enable him to make the festival bigger than ever, with a capacity of more than 70,000 per day.
Last night he revealed: “Each year you look at potential headliners out there and Madonna is one of them. I first tried to pull off Madonna as a headliner four years ago when it looked like an option and as a blast of inspiration I called her agent in Los Angeles.
“I told him it was a bit of a long shot and he agreed but I asked if she would do it. At the time she declined but only because she had cancelled her trip to Europe.
“She now lives in London so it’s a lot more practical for her to come to T in the Park. I’ve said she could headline but she won’t have to if she just wants to come along and do her own thing.
“It would be great if she could play at T in the Park. We are already working on getting the headliners booked for next year and we would be delighted if Madonna’s people say she wants to do it.”
