The Importance Of Being Binah
Names play an important role in Madonna‘s new book, The English Roses.
Grace is indeed one of the nicest characters in the story, but the girl with the most special name is the main character, Binah.
To name her heroine, Madonna was once again inspired by an Hebrew word. Binah means Wisdom in Hebrew.
In the press interview that Madonna Tribe published unedited for it’s Italian readers last night Madonna reveals some interesting facts.
Here’s parts from the full interview.
As you have explained this book is about “jealousy and envy and how these sentiments bring unnecessary sufferings in our lives”. Is this drawn from personal experiences you had as child?
As a child, I experienced jealousy and envy toward other girls for any number of reasons: I was jealous they had mothers, jealous they were prettier and richer. It isn?t until you grow up that you realize what a waste of time those feelings are. Today there are people that are jealous of me and become nasty to me, or little girls that are jealous of my daughter and they isolate her.
Which were your favourite books as a child?
The tree, Winnie the Pooh, Alice in Wonderland, Narnia’s chronicles and Secret Garden.
Is there a common element that links all Five books?
Every book deals with certain things that every child has to deal with:
Uncertainties, Jealousy/Envy, Overcoming obstacles, Learning not to judge others, and understanding the power that words have. I hope that from each book, kids can take something good that will help them to understand that there’s something to learn even from painful and sad situations.
Which is the most important lesson children should learn on Life, Love and the search of happiness?
The important thing is that they shoud learn that our souls are all connected and that we have to learn how to love and take care of each other. To love people no matter what. That our thoughts, our words and actions really have an influence on the people we have around us. That the Idea of changing the world starts from a thought. That love conquers all.
