2004 Pride International Film Festival
2004 Pride International Film Festival will be honoring Madonna and Sir Ian Mckellen during the Closing Nite presentation which will take take place in June 2004 in the Metropolitan Manila in the Philippines.
The Closing Film Night will include the presentation of the first PRIDE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL’S “JUDY” Award to Madonna. This award, named after the late Ms. Judy Garland, will be given for the first time to the most influential woman in the entertainment business.
Madonna has also been an “Icon” for the community for the past few decades. She has exemplified her works through films, music and books, and have been a major advocator of HIV/AIDS awareness for the past few years.
The Festival is also presenting the first Pride International Film Festival’s “LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT & DISTINCTION AWARD” to British thespian and actor, Sir Ian Mckellen. This award will be given to him for his acting excellence in films & his unending advocacy and voice for gay rights and the community worldwide. It will be noted that he’s coming out during an interview a few years ago is already a major breakthrough and example for most of Hollywood and its actors.
