A Certain Sacrifice officially released on DVD

Madonna collectors have the chance to get a copy of her first movie ever on DVD from Legacy Entertainment.

Starring Madonna, Jeremy Pattnosh, Charles Kurtz, Sandy Stern and directed by Steven Jon Lewicki, A Certain Sacrifice was shot in 1979 but was released to the public only in 1985.

Madonna plays Bruna, a sexy, street wise girl surviving in New York’s Lower East Side. After she is brutally assaulted, Bruna enlists the help from those closest to her to seek revenge upon her assailant… leading to a shocking ending.

“A Certain sacrifice” is the first project ever in which Madonna tested her acting abilities. Though raw and mostly improvised, it’s clear that even as a unknown, 20 year old Madonna had intrigue which would be better displayed in later projects.

Though quick cut, this hour long film is unique, controversial and definitely a vital part of Madonna’s history. Retail price at BestBuy is $5.99.
