A Madonna experience in Manchester
Here is a story from MadonnaTribe Community member ropplerobert
“Ok, I’ve just returned home from one of the most amazing weeks of my life and am left feeling so lucky to have had another amazing Madonna experience (after Brixton Academy and Up for grabs I never thought I’d get so close again!) so I just wanted to share it with you!
I don’t really know where to begin, as words have so far failed me but I’ll give it ago…
I attended the last show in Manchester (Sunday 15th) and the first night in London (Wednesday 18th) and both shows simply blew me away, especially since I was lucky enough to be in the front and second row for them. Being up close to your idol is a lot to take and both night’s I found myself using my hands as a paper bag to stop myself from getting overexcited… but that didn’t stop a few tears from flowing. I didn’t allow that to go on for long though, through fear of missing a thing! And, wow, she looked absolutely stunning!
Both shows really were amazing and I think she put 1000 % into them, sunday because she considered it her birthday show (never in my life did I think I’d actually get to celebrate this with her!) and wednesday because she really saw it as coming home! I still get tingles as I think about the things she said and moved at how genuinely touched by her audience she seems to be on this tour!
I won’t talk much about the setlist as we all know it, and I don’t want to spoil it for those who don’t, but every single song was perfect, her voice blew others out of the water… she never ceases to amaze me with her constant quest for perfection, this is a lady who has never stopped working or taken her status for granted. Her voice was more powerful than ever and contrary to some reviews she had absolutely no problem keeping up with the dancers… quite frankly putting her supposed successors to shame. No one can ever live up to her, no one will ever live up to her!
One of the most amazing moments of the second night was when she was singing ‘Nothing Fails‘ right in front of us… me and my boyfriend love this song and she seemed to really respond to how affected by and into it we were, looking in our direction and piercing our hearts with her eyes, and I’ll never forget making her smile as she saw me point at her on ‘say YOU’LL always be there’…. she really did seem touched by it and I felt glad to be able to give something back and let her know just how much she means to me, and indeed all of us.
What more can I say? I could ramble on but words really can’t describe the memories she has given me. All I can say is myself, my boyfriend John and my best friend Catherine were astounded and I’m sure you have been or will be too… and for those of you who couldn’t be there I hope you can live the experience a little through my experience and my pictures. Finally, I’d like to say how genuinely touched I am by the amount of people that said nice things about my top, and even more so by the people who recognised me from the Brixton Academy… I’m so glad I got to share the experience….
Dream the impossible dream!”
