American Pie video director makes feature film debut
German director Philipp Stölzl makes his feature film debut with a low-budget family drama
called Baby
The Munich-born Stölzl, 36, made his name in Germany directing music videos, bringing the songs of German groups to MTV and the masses.
His work caught the eye of music industry executives in the United States, and this son of a conservative member of the Berlin city-state parliament soon found himself being asked by Madonna to film her American Pie video in 2000.
After that he worked with other big names like Luciano Pavarotti, Garbage and the German pop star Marius Müller-Westernhagen.
Baby, is set for a German release in late February.
