…As if I’m not going to tour again!
More lucky fans share their Madonna experience from today. Here’s what our forum moderator Tonybecks wrote about his encounter with the Queen of pop in our community forum.
“Oh man…what a day!
I too was one of the lucky ones – Number 55 in the end (thank you Steve!!! ). So near enough to the front to get a good couple of minutes talking to her, but not near enough to get a personalised autograph. But I’m not too worried about that – sure it’d have been nice, but today for me (and most people I think) was all about finally meeting her in an environment in which she was comfortable and relaxed and I was welcome to approach her.
She was absolutely lovely – polite, friendly, in a great playful mood, caring about people who seemed nervous, was willing to talk about any subject the person wanted to talk about and generally in a brilliant mood!
When I went over she had a vague look of recognition for me when I introduced myself which was nice and she started off by formally offering the book to me ‘Now, would you like a copy of my new book then Tony?‘ with a big grin and then waited for me to launch into my questions.
I told her about my misfortunes in the past at DWT and RIT with the hat-in-the-face and the shirt-out-of-the-hands incidents which had her (and her people) cracking up.
I did, however, continue my run of embarrassing myself when in her presence by gibbering like a fool (I do that when I’m nervous) and even resorting to a ‘comedy’ thumbs up when she told me “as if I’m not going to tour again!” as if the very thought of her never touring again was the most ludicrous thing she had ever heard when I asked…
I can confirm absolutely there was NO TRACE of an English accent in anything she said to me. The other absolutey clear thing was – goddamn – she is GORGEOUS! And oh lordy…you could just get lost in those eyes….
A momentous day for this humble little fan.
Two other magnificent things about today – our fellow fans – I think we can safely say we all did each other proud. No stress, no dramas, no arguments, no pushing, no one leaving disappointed (that I saw).
The other thing is the organisation. OK, so yes they messed us around with how they were going to do the actual day, but I doubt anyone who was there could really fault the shop for the way they ran today’s event. Great, calm, mature security, helpful and polite staff and an all round good atmosphere which kept the event fun and informal. Bravo. Everywhere else – take note!
Hang on a minute….
….OH MY GOD – I MET MADONNA TODAY!!!!!!”
