Britain’s Richest Women
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has roared to the top of the Richest Women in Britain rankings, earning 10 times more than actress Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Britain’s Mail On Sunday survey puts the woman behind the magical wizard at No. 1, commanding annual earnings of about $177 million, while Mrs Michael Douglas languishes at No. 11, with $17.2 million to show for her year’s toil.
Rowling and Madonna are the only two high-profile names among a slew of businesswomen in the Top 10, but some familiar stars managed to make it into the richest 20.
In fact, the overwhelming majority of the second 10 are stars from the world of television and music. Former Spice Girl and all-around glamour girl Victoria Beckham finds herself in a three-way-tie for the 20th spot, sharing the honour with Aussie pop star Kylie Minogue and Ozzy’s wife Sharon Osbourne. Frasier star Jane Leeves makes a surprise appearance at 16, thanks to her $14 million salary, barely topped by the Queen.
The monarch is closely followed by “Thank You” singer Dido, with author Jackie Collins, TV presenter Anne Robinson and Zeta-Jones rounding out the list.
