Broadway Remake of Speed The Plow
Michael Rego, will probably star in the new edition of
David Mamet‘s Speed-the-Plow, produced by the Araca Group.
Matthew Warchus will direct Mamet’s scathing look at Hollywood on Broadway
Rego said he had seen the 1988 Broadway premiere, which starred Joe Mantenga and Ron Silver, as well as pop icon Madonna.
“It’s easy to bash Madonna,” said Rego. “What I’m interested in is what the play would be like with not two but three great actors, without the distraction of having Madonna in your play.”
Added Rego: “When the play was first done, the plot seemed somewhat outrageous. Now, you can believe that those sort of things actually happen in Hollywood.”
