Denjo’s review from Arnhem
And here’s and exciting review from our forum member Denjo
“We-Hey! Now what can I say?!?!? It’s been a BLAST!!!
We arrived quite early in Arnhem in the afternoon and watched the people come in at Gelredome, Madonna came in with a truck of Limo’s about 18.00, and we could clearly hear her rehearse Material Girl & Vogue while standing close to the Gelredome. The film team (with Jonas Akerlund) took some shots at the people waiting and also did some interviews. We went inside 19.30, the show was supposed to start at 20.15. Well, the lights went out at exact 20.50! The crowd got wild, The Beast Within started and we were just stunned by the moving images on the very huge screens, and when our one and only Queen came up on stage there was no holding for anyone …
I won’t write something to each track now, as the tracklisting is well known to everybody and nothing has been changed. What I can say is, that her mic one time fell out, but I can’t remember which track exactly. Her voice was unbelieveable, all through the show. Don’t tell me was done with french music (I’d have prefered Bitterweet Symphony) and I really love the new BS video. In fact I think whenever she does her next video, it should be like this, just her doing some moves and singing with a simple background, no big FX or anything. To watch her in a well edited video just does it!
Personally, I thought the show moved a bit fast, or at least it occured to me like that. It took the crowd some time to get into the groove, but then went really wild.
It was somewhat exhausting to watch both, Madonna & the video screens, which I think was a brilliant idea to replace the stage design with for most of the songs.
The merchandise wasn’t as good as I expected (and very expensive!), I didn’t like any of the shirts and there was one plain white shirt saying “It’s my turn to give” … could someone please tell me how this is related to Madonna??!
I took home, of course, the programme (absolutely brilliant!), a keyring and 3 posters of which I don’t know if they’re official, cos they were sold after the show seperate to the official “boutique” and the seller vanished quickly, they’re still very nice.
And guys, there was one thing that was really really strange, too strange if you ask me. No Madonna thing, though …
Did any of you realise all the heavy pregnant women there?!?!?! I’ve never seen so many pregnant women in one place!!! There must’ve been over 20 of ’em, no kidding!
And McDonalds over there must’ve made a fortune on the M-Fans, there were lines going out as if they had free tickets!
Anyways …
The show ended with Holiday, we then waited another 2 hours until we went home (I had to drive another 300 km and had to work today!) ….
It was an unbelievable experience, stunning, breath-taking … there are not quite enough words to describe it.
If one ever had a doubt that Madonna is THE ONE AND ONLY MEGASTAR in the world, the greatest performing artist of all time and a living legend … after seeing this show everyone just has to be convinced about that simple but true facts!
And guys, this show was waaaaaay better than DWT! She didn’t talk that much to the audience though … now it’s a close competitor for BAT (still the best in music history, ground-breaking, way-giving)
And now I just can’t wait for the DVD! 2005 is much too late for a release, this christmas would be just perfect!
Hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!!!
Thanks to Denjo for his review.
