Don McLean will Tour Australia
American Hall-of-Fame singer-songwriter Don McLean will tour Australia in September. Now in his fourth decade as an entertainer, McLean will return to Australia for eight concerts nationally. The tour will begin in Newcastle on September 14 before taking in dates in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Tweed Heads and Wollongong.
McLean last visited Australia in 1998 and since then his most famous song,American Pie, has again hit the charts with a cover by Madonna.
“Don McLean is eternal,” promoter John Hansen said. “He has 40 platinum and gold records, and has recently been inducted into the songwriters’ Hall of Fame. Don loves coming here, he has the greatest memories of Australian audiences.”
Since 1971, McLean has sold more than 20 million albums and enjoyed major chart success around the globe with hits such as Vincent, And I Love You So, Crying, Castles in the Air and Since I Don’t Have You.
“Keep music in your life and have fun with it and you will understand the language of song,” McLean has said.
