From Sweden with Love
Staffan, our reader from Sweden wants to share a swedish
review of the tour-premiere. The journalist
on swedish newspaper Aftonbladet was blown away by the Re-invention tour, and
gave it FIVE out of five!
Staffan translated bits and pieces from the article for The Tribe:
“It’s slightly frustrating to me that the reviews from this show will be so
much about other things than the music,
and the show itself. Especially in the States, the media will focus on the
scandals, rather than the music. That
Madonna criticises the war in Irak will draw a lot of attention. The war images
in American Life and Imagine are
very uncomforable, and will be discussed.
Personally, I have other things on my mind after the show. I´m thinking about
the dancing, the lighting, the
geniously built stage and the fenomenal videoscreens. Visually, Madonna 2004 is
better than everything I ever saw
on stage – Rolling Stones, Kraftwerk and Kiss included.
The biggest surprise is the musical qualities. Like A Prayer – MY GOD! Right
then and there, it´s the best thing I have
ever heard live. It rocks so bad it hurts.”
Staffan’s comment:
In a seperate review of the songs from the show Vogue, American Life, Like a
prayer, Into the groove, Music and
Holiday all get five out of five, and the other numbers are not far behind.
It´s by far Madonna‘s best tour-review
ever in Sweden. And this comes from a journalist who thought Madonna’s career
was over with the cd American Life
– something he now admits was far from the truth!
To me, this was an amazing start to Madonna´s tour. I´m glad I will be seeing
her live in London on the 18th!
All the best, Staffan from Sweden
