From Vancouver to Vegas
MadonnaTribe reader Michelle from Vancouver, Canada, went to the re-Invention tour in Las Vegas. Here’s her experience:
I don’t think I could ever express my feelings (or my friends for that matter) about Madonna‘s show on Sunday May 30th. It was the best night of our lives!
Myself and 5 other friends hopped on a plane from Vancouver BC Canada and headed to Sin City to see our girl hit the stage. After a 65 day count down, we were beside ourselves with excitement that we were finally there!! We had been checking the Tribe, before we left, and noticed that people were being pulled from the upper levels, and getting bumped to the floor! We all had intentions already of dressing up, each one of us with a different album cover on a t-shirt, and we each dressed up according to that particular time and album.
Our hope was to be picked as well, to hit the floor. We raced to the concert and got to our seats. I realized I had forgotten my binoculars at the hotel, and was moaning about the fact when buddy in a cowboy hat appears outta now where and asks us, “So, how many of you are there in your party?” We just looked at him and said, “Shut up!!!” Oh my God! I couldn’t believe it!!! We just started screaming down at our friends who
were a section below us, saying, “Come on! Let’s Go! We’re going to the floor!”
At first, they didn’t quite get it, but then it hit them! We were the luckiest people there I swear! We were bumped to the first and second rows! And it was amazing! When I got to my new seat, all I could say was “Oh my God!” Over and over. I was just shaking!
When the music started, and began The Beast Within, well, I couldn’t help myself, I just started crying!
I have wanted to see Madonna for 20 years now! Of course when she came through the bottom of the stage for Vogue, well, I had, to stop the tears, I couldn’t see!!! She was amazing!!!! The sound was incredible, and she was lovelier than ever! I was so close I could see the body glitter!
The coolest thing is that she noticed us, ya know? She smiled at us, I am sure she was amused by our get-ups. And Dex was even up on one of those big screens for a moment!!! But for a moment in time, Madonna knew we existed! After the show, we re-grouped and went on about how wonderful it was and how damn lucky we were! My friend Jason had a dream that a woman in a cowboy hat, (dressed Madonna Music style) stopped us on the streets and gave us floor seats. It wasn’t a woman, but a man, in a cowboy hat!
There were some concert goers who thought we all looked so good in our outfits, that they stopped us to ask if they could take our picture with them.
Of course we said yes! And when we turned to leave after doing that, the camera crew was standing right there behind us waiting! It’s a blur really, but I know we just started gushing about Madonna and the show, and kept thanking her for the tickets! No one asked us to sign a release though… sure hope we don’t end up on the editing room floor!
Madonna, thank you! You can’t possibly imagine how you touched the hearts of these crazy kids from Canada! We love you soooo much!
Jules, Jay, Dex, Beej, Rox, I will never forget that awesome night together with you guys!!! I Love you all!!!
Ah yes, and for fun, here is a scan of my original ticket, and the wonderful gift floor ticket from Madonna!
PS: To all the people who sat down in the front rows at the concert……Hello??? You don’t sit at a Madonna concert!!!!
Oh and to the girl who stole the black T-shirt from out of my friends hands that night, (and you know the shirt was meant for them, and you know who you are) there is a thing called Karma, and I am sure you will get yours!!!! You totally didn’t deserve it! You sat down the whole time! Why did you even go???”
Thanks Michelle for sharing your experience with the Tribe. Please keep sending your stories, pictures, scans and memorabilia and everything you think it would be nice to be featured on this news page by sending an email to share@madonnatribe.com. Thank you!
