Guy Ritchie new movie?
Ritchie, married to Madonna, is the man behind cult hits like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and his latest film, Revolver, is another gangster story.
Steve Christian, director of Isle of Man Film, confirmed the movie studio in Lezayre has been booked for Revolver, budgeted at $20 million, for the last two months of the year.
Meanwhile, German director Emmerich is the man who brought us big-budget spectacles such as Independence Day and his latest, disaster film The Day After Tomorrow, which has just stormed to the top of the UK charts.
However, his next movie will see a change of pace The Soul of the Age, budgeted at $30-35 million, is an ‘intense 16th century drama about the question of the authorship of Shakespeare’, according to Screen International.
Mr Christian said the contracts for both films are still under negotiation and have some way to go, while any deals will be subject to Treasury approval.
But he revealed Emmerich visited the Island and is keen to film here. ‘He spent a couple of days here and loved the place’, said Mr Christian.
He is one of the world’s biggest directors and to get him here would be fantastic’.
