Guy Ritchie starts working on new movie next month in London
Film director Guy Ritchie has started work on his new movie – starring Welsh actor Andrew Howard.
Andrew, 34, was snapped up by Ritchie for the new Brit-flick – a day after he met with him.
The actor, who grew up in Ely and Canton in Cardiff, said: “I am delighted to be working on a fabulous script with a world-famous cast.
“I put on a posh Welsh accent in the film, one not represented often in films. There is an obvious nod to Richard Burton in it.”
Andrew will star alongside Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels actor Jason Statham in Revolver, which begins filming in London next month.
The details of other co-stars have yet to be revealed but Andrew said he had heard Andre3000 of Outkast was due to make an appearance.
“I have heard people talking about it in the costume department. I think it’s true but it’s not official,” he said.
Andrew, who went to St Mary High School, Roath, and now lives in Brick Lane, London, picked up two best actor awards for the 2001 psychological drama Mr In-Between.
“I am over the moon to be doing this film,” he said. “I am keen to do a good job.”
The Cardiff City fan added that he owed his success to his family, who now own the Lincoln House Hotel in Cathedral Road, Cardiff, as well as his aunts Kath and Nina, who have followed his career since his first stage appearance with a Rhiwbina amateur dramatics group.
“They are full of rich and fascinating stories,” he said.
