Hapy Rosh Madonna
Madonna rang in the Jewish New Year yesterday by immersing herself in six hours of kabbalah prayers and song on the first full day of her spiritual journey in Israel.
The superstar sat in the front row of a makeshift synagogue at a meeting room of her luxury Tel Aviv hotel, where some 2,400 followers of Jewish mysticism gathered for an international conference.
Men and women were segregated from each other – so she and her white-clad husband, Guy Ritchie, sat apart.
Witnesses said Madonna joined in singing prayers during yesterday’s Rosh Hashana session which ran from 11 a.m. until a meal break at 5 p.m.
She appeared intently listening to a lecture by her spiritual adviser, Eitan Yardeni, which was translated into Hebrew, Arabic and Spanish.
Madonna is on a six-day visit to the Holy Land, which includes a visit to religious shrines.
