jghastings’ review of last night in Wembley Arena
Hey All,
well, I’m just back from my second Wembley concert on the Re-Invention Tour, and tonight I was at the outer end of Row 3 in Block A4. Yes, I was close!
Anyway, the concert was really good tonight, the arena was much cooler, she was again in a playful mood and I have basically now lost my voice. Even though I was two rows closer tonight compared to last night, being at the outer edge of the floor blocks meant the atmosphere around me wasn’t as electric on the whole, especially as I had so many security guards loitering around behind me, but when Madonna came down to our end of the stage I think we probably got more excited than ever. I was still a little surprised to hear her say we were way better than last night, but hey.
There were two ladies in baby blue stetsons in front of me who really got into a lot of the show tonight, but rather bafflingly they blabbered to each other about their merchandise the whole way through Imagine. Odd, very odd. Still, they were well up for it as a whole and certainly got Madonna’s attention when she was over at our side of the stage. Elsewhere in my block were a lot of fans who knew all the lyrics, and I saw one tall guy down near the central end of Row 4 who was really giving it some with the dance moves throughout the show.
Crazy For You was something very special indeed, and I laughed my arse off when Madonna did her oxygen deprivation speech.
So, a very very very good night. Better than both dates at Earls Court, but not as good as Sunday for me personally, largely because I was out at the sides rather than sweating it out in the throng.
