John’s Manchester Experience
This story comes from our reader John:
“Looking back this really has been the best two weeks of my life!
I thought nothing could top the Drowned World tour but the Re-invention tour really blew me away on so many levels, and it all started in Manchester on August 14th!
I swore to myself that after only managing to get 3 london tickets for drowned world, i would do my best to get as many tickets for the reinventon tour, and i couldn’t of been luckier! 3 front row seats! one for Manchester, and two for Wembley 2 amazing side view seats for Earls Court and wait for it one pit ticket for Wembley!!!!!!!! But ill get on to that later.
The feelings and thoughts that were going through my head on the train from London to Manchester on August 13th were undescrivable, i was to meet my best madonna friends Michelle, Dave and Denise we have been following her career for years!.
The day of the show finally came and to cut a long story short we had ordered our tickets through Icon so there was a huge queue of us waiting to collect our first night tickets at the box office.
It was then were i spotted and heard the Pit queen herself Alison! This charming confident lady who was in charge of meeting the competition dance pit winners and issuing them with wristbands. I was a bit jealous I have to admit because i had entered every Pit competition known to man but nothing had come through. I needed to speak to Alison that was the only thing that was going through my head, i had nothing to loose right? So i walked up to her and started talking the usual stuff i had been a fan for years, i had entered every competition known to man etc and she was just taking it all in smiling. Then she said to me ‘come and see me in London‘ so i thought ok whatever she’s just blowing me off she wont give me a ticket.

The Manchester show was incredible, and i had so many great shows after that i went to both earls court shows and the audience was indeed truly amazing and really into it!
I had my 2 front row shows at Wembley and I thought nothing can top this, Madonna was so happy and confident on stage and we all got so much eye contact on the front rows i was having the time of my life.
So on the 3rd show of Wembley on the wednesday it was the only night i didn’t have a ticket, i thought i will go down and try for a Pit ticket i wanted the experience so badly!!, I didn’t really think i had a hope in hell of getting one and i didn’t even think Alison would remember me, little did i know.
6.45pm came along and out she came and ushered all the competition winners in. I was at the front of the line that didn’t have Pit tickets with my friend denise, Alison spotted me, walked right up to me holding a hand full of pit tickets, and gave me two!!!!! Without saying a word, I was so shocked and stunned and so so happy, i said thank you and she said to me ‘I never forget’, that night in the Pit was so amazing i was in the left pit, and i started talking to a guy from madonnatribe but i don’t remember your name! He’s italian though.
What you see in that Pit is so amazing Madonna is so close to you and you realise how hard the dancers and the crew work! After that night i thought nothing could top that but the last show at Wembley was truly amazing and seeing madonna crying on stage was too much for me and my friends, what an amazing end to the london dates.
I want to thank everyone who I’ve come in contact with over the years and made my madonna experience so special. Thanks to Alison and my special madonna friends, Michelle Budd, Dave Conway and Denise! you mean more to me than you can ever know. Heres to touring in the year 2025!!!!!!!! Johnx
Special thanks to John
