Latest on Madonna’s Slane Concert
MadonnaTribe Forum member ScruffySlayer has sent us this interesting article that focuses on the latest news and rumors about the possible Slane Castle stop of Madonna’s tour.
“Stories have surfaced about Madonna refusing to play Slane Castle Co Meath for her Irish date on a Saturday due to her religious beliefs (this seems unlikely considering she is playing Saturday dates in the States).
Instead she would play the venue on a Sunday something which Meath County Council disagree with because they feel a Sunday concert will lead to people staying in the town and possibly causing trouble, something that happened when Bob Dylan played a Sunday gig in Slane years ago (the only Sunday concert in Slane’s history as far as I know).
However the Slane parish priest was on Irish radio yesterday evening talking about it. He basically said the same things about the Sunday concert’s possible disruption. He did importantly point out that no applications to hold a concert in Slane have been made to Meath County Council yet (presumably they will regardless of Madonna’s involvement, Slane is a regular and integral part of the Irish music calendar) and there has been nothing said to anyone that Madonna will definitely play Slane. As far as I can see until we get the official statement nothing about her Irish gigs is confirmed.”
MadonnaTribe sources have informed us that the Slane gig was actually on schedule for August 29. We should also note, anyway, that the original tour schedule has been already modified recently, also according to the results of the US shows tickets sales.
As usual, let’s wait and see for any official information from madonna.com
