Let your mind groove to the music
“Resta in Ascolto”, the new album by Laura Pausini is released tomorrow, and the italian singer is featured in several interviews both on the italian and the international press – each of them can’t help asking Laura about the song Madonna gave to her to be sung in italian and spanish. Have you ever heard of …ehm, “Like A Flower?”. The following comes from an article on today’s edition of italian leading’s newspaper “Il Corriere della Sera”.
“How did the collaboration with Madonna come to life?”
“We have been meeting each other for several times at some award shows, then I finally got to meet her at a Losa Angeles restaurant and she’s been very kind.
Then Rick Nowels gave me some demos of her to listen. I loved one of the songs, written and sung by Madonna, because it didn’t deal with love in a conventional way, but as a kind of inner peace. At that time I was just getting out from my long time love story that had just ended.
I asked Madonna’s manager if I had a chance to translate it, with a strong twist to its overall meaning. And by sending an email, she said it was ok:
“Listen to the music and do what it inspires you to do. Follow your emotions closely.”
That’s incredible. A true collaboration. There’s a lot of her and a lot of myself.”
