Long live the Queen of music
Here’s a review of the August 18 Earls Court show by MadonnaTribe reader Alun.
Well my first date with Madonna (and another few 1000 people) is over and what a show it was 18th Aug 2004 at Earls Court in West London.
We took out seats early and saw all the fuss when Kylie entered the venue to be seated in the lover level VIP area.
At 8.50 the lights went down and the music and video screen started, Beast Within was playing with a video of Madonna and various screen shots of things.
At the half way or a bit after that point the screen opens out and moves away to let you see the screen behind this.
Madonna appears on stage (I will not say how for anyone who has not seen the show Yet!)
And the crowd went mad.
As Madonna runs through songs like Vogue, Nobody Knows Me, Frozen etc. It proves she is Still the Queen of not just American or British music but the Queen of the world when it comes to music, no female has ever been so popular on stage and never will.
All these rumours of it being the last tour ever, well I say, – if it was don’t you think she would have said that when she announced this tour way back in the spring? She loves it on stage and said so when said this (our) crowd was the best ever and she really did mean it. She said it was good to be back home (London is now the home of Madonna thanks to Guy and we all thank him for that)
I’ve seen each Uk-leg tour since 1987 WTG,GS,BA,DWT and now RiT and although BA is still my fav this was the best her voice has ever sounded.
She was so clear the money invested in the audio system has paid off.
The stage was at times basic and at other times wonderful, it all came together to show she is not just her master’s voice (VHM) but also a great businesswoman who has creative ideas when it comes to stage, song and acting. If this show does not go to DVD then the world is missing out as for all our friends overseas outside (US,UK,Europe (limited coverage) you have missed on of her best tours ever.
If you did/have/do miss this tour do not miss the DVD when it comes out, as I’m sure it will.
Papa Don’t Preach – she wore the new Brits Do It Better top and showed all us Brits we sure do, do it better when it comes to being a concert crowd no need to tell us to get up and dance like at some US dates.
Crazy for You – we sure where and will always be crazy for Madonna and to hear what has for near on 20years been my Fav all time song it was a dream come true to hear this song live, as all of you I’m sure will know she’s never done this song on any tour ever!
All finished with As always the tour finally Holiday and what a way to go out.
Go on Madonna you are the best and always will be, Don’t let us down and retire from stage we need you and as it says at the end Re-Invent Yourself and we hope you do that yourself many more times on our London stages both concert and theatre (plays Musicals etc).
Long live the Queen of music.!!!!
