Loren Long’s snowflake for charity auction
Robert’s Snow for Cancer’s Cure is a unique fundraiser to benefit the Dana Farber Cancer Insititute. Over 150 Children’s Book Illustrators have created original pieces of art on 5″ x 5″ wooden snowflakes to be auctioned off for cancer research.
Loren Long, the illustrator of Madonna’s Mr. Peabody’s Apples has created “Imagine“, the snowflake pictured on the right in which he captures the amazing discovery that the sky is endless. The snowflake serves as a window looking out. The awestruck child stands upon a stone bench counting the night star, perhaps trying to get closer to them. The artist’s stylized brushwork gives the piece richness and eye-catching contrast.
The snowflake is currently on auction and the entire final value will go to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, providing expert, compassionate care to children and adults with cancer while advancing the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of cancer and related diseases.
