PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION ” WRITING WITH LIGHT ”
By VITTORIO STORARO
Double impressions: Between Photography and Cinematography
The exhibition “Writing with Light” is a journey in the collective imaginary world of the figurative arts at the beginning of a new millennium, seen by a visionary man like Vittorio Storaro. He, in searching for visual inspiration for the cinematographic ideation of the 40 international films that signed his figurative journey, selected Drawings-Paintings-Sculptures.These, from his point of view, had signed the traces in the figurative arts alongside several generations, creating the century of Image. The exhibition, following the structure that characterized the creative journey and the expressive research of Storaro, shows 50 Drawing-Painting-Sculpture alongside 100 photographic images in double exposure realized during different international films.

The photography exhibition is part of the visionary world of Vittorio Storaro, a series of 100 composite images put next to 50 drawings, paintings, and sculptures that originally inspired the entire project of “Writing with Light”. It is a creative possibility to revisit the visual imagery that has accompanied him until now. A figurative trip is retraced, lived as the first part of a past life from Darknes to Light, in the second part, a present life from Red to Violet, and in a third part f a future life from Matter to Energy. He is always closer to a research for which he has spent, is spending, and will spend the greater part of his life. There is an individual need to look for possible confirmations, to better understandthe figurative walk between photography and cinematography. A photo-cinematographic exposition was conceived, and needed, in the attempt to find within the simple fixed word “photography“, the reason for telling a story in movement with more than one image superimposed on another trying with each medium to “photograph“, to “write with light“. It is both a narrative concept and a visual concept.
