The themes of the show are:
1. OPENING
2. CARNIVALE
3. ACOUSTIC
4. KILT
This is how she has it stated on her set list. The stage itself is all video screens – this show is not big on sets – but when they do change it’s kinda cool – the stage is built on rotating circle – so the stage turn and lowers and at the same time a new set will come up from the floor. Kinda hard to explain. The only sets at TV screens for American Life. Skate Ramp for the Carnivale section. For the Accustic section it only Madonna and her band. For Music she has a huge 3 sided stair case with Stewart Price in the middle playing on Turn Tables. The steps light up in different colors as Madonna walks down them.
Lament with the electric chair – the ramp you see in the background is a skate board ramp. One of the dancers skates on it and does a flip. One note “Holly Wood” as she is calling it now is a instrumental, Madonna is not on stage for this number – she then comes back on stage and performs Hanky Panky with a Carnivale theme stage/dancers
The concert I did not feel was her best concert. The music was AMAZING but the energy was not there. She made a HUGE political/religious statements throughout the entire concert.
American Life, Like A Prayer, Mother and Father and Imagine leave you feeling depressed – during these numbers the video screens deal with war, religion and death. At the end of Holiday she leaves the stage without saying goodnight and a speech by George Bush comes on followed by house lights coming up. Everyone in the audience starting to “BOO” at the point – both for George Bush and it being the end and no encore. Interesting way to end a concert. By far the best part of the show is the beginning.
Thanks for the great web site – I enjoy it very MUCH!!!!!! If you have any questions about the show let me know.
