Madge takes a bow
Take note Spears. Actually, don’t, you’ll only copy it
Defying the recent death threats she’s received, Madonna took to the stage last night for the start of her Re-Invention world tour.
Despite cancelling her Israel gigs due to threats to her and her family by an unnamed Palestinian group, the queen of pop wowed the Los Angeles crowd at the Great Western Forum.
And guess what? She managed to sing live, unlike her biggest fan Britney Spears, who was panned by critics for miming during her recent Hotel Onyx tour.
The tour, which reportedly costs £1m to stage, has already received huge publicity.
During the concert, which sees Madonna performing her oldies alongside new material, the singer pretends to get “fried” in an electric chair.
Saving the extremists the bother.
The LA gig is the first of 50 gruelling dates which eventually brings Madge to the UK in August.
Reports suggest a documentary will also be made about the tour, but not on the same scale as the Truth Or Dare film which followed her Blonde Ambition tour.
Her entourage for this tour, includes more than 100 people travelling on the road, 56 security guards working backstage and 12 dancers.
While Madonna has a truck just to house her wardrobe and make-up and she has also made provision for a children’s playroom backstage.
But the dancers have to dress themselves, as Madge has said she wants them to express themselves.
Hmm. Catchy name for a song. Well, it’s better than tight-arse.
