Madison Square Garden
Madison Square Garden has been the name of four arenas in New York City.
The first two were located at Madison Square, thus the name. Subsequently a new Garden was built at 50th Street and 8th Avenue, and the current Garden is sited on top of Pennsylvania Station.
The Garden is best known for the New York Knicks and New York Rangers professional sports teams that play their home matches in the arena. It is also the location of the circus when it comes to New York City, and almost any other kind of indoor activities that draw large audiences. Before promoters moved boxing to Las Vegas, the Madison Square Garden was also considered the Mecca of boxing. Needless to say, it is also home of the most important indoor music events in the Big Apple.
Madonna performed at The Garden ofr the first time during her Virgin Tour on June 10 and 11, 1985, after a series of sell-out performance at the Radio City Hall, where she made history selling 19.000 tickets in 35 minutes. The Girlie Show and the Drowned World Tour also stopped at The Garden in October 1993 and July 2001.
Madison Square Garden is located in Manhattan on Seventh Avenue between 31st and 33rd Streets. For further information please visit MadonnaTribe’s Tour-o-Meter.
