Madonna, a consistent presence for me.
Our brand new forum member danahawco has posted this charming tour memories of her re-Invention tour experience in Toronto on our Tour Forum.
“Well I am a 27-year-old girl from Newfoundland Canada. I have been a long time Madonna fan and when I first heard about the Reinvention Tour coming to Canada I immediately told my 2 older sisters. Then and there we decided we would go to the concert together no matter what.
Well after much drama and after a lot of money spent I found myself in the 10th row (left side) on Sunday, July 18th in the Air Canada Center.
No matter how large my obsession or how outrageous my love for Madonna was, I never really thought I would ever see her live. I assumed I would always see her through a TV.
Once I got to the stadium and realized how close I was to the stage I starting freaking out. I talked to some great people around me (a sweet guy from Cleveland) and it helped the time before the start of the show go by fast. Once she began I was in complete and utter awe. Her beauty, her talent, her presence and her energy amazed me. The show was non-stop and made me run through every emotion.
It?s funny, when a person you have seen only in pictures or heard through a radio is finally presented before you. During Crazy For You she was right in front of me singing and at that moment I realised how long Madonna had been in my life. No matter how crazy or unpleasant times have been for me in the past 20 years, no matter how people have come and gone I can definitely say that Madonna was a consistent presence for me. Now I know she has no idea who I am or that I even exist but to me she has been around me almost all my life.
I was looking straight at her and I remembered me as a chubby lonely girl dancing to Madonna in my room. I remembered dressing up as her for Halloween. I remembered my bedroom walls covered in Madonna posters. And now she was right in front of me.
The entire concert was an amazing experience. The energy in the room was outstanding. I danced and screamed and jumped around the entire time. It was everything I had imagined it would be and more. And everybody around me seemed to be having just as good a time.
I guess I could point out highlights but there really is no need to. Everything was perfect.
So if and when you go to see Madonna in concert. Forget about everything around you. Who cares if people are sitting or standing – just take a deep breath – relax and let the moment sink in because it was be over in a flash. The two hours will seem like a split second.
But trust me when I say the whole experience will keep lingering.
For me – a perfect night – a perfect show
