Madonna and The Hall Of Fame by Daniel
As MadonnaTribe exclusively informed you last November 1st, Madonna will be attending the ceremony of the UK Music Hall of Fame and going to be awarded with a prestigious place at the Hall of Fame. The Queen of Pop will attend the ceremony which is going to be aired Live on UK’s Channel 4 television on November 11th, 2004.
Our collaborator and friend Daniel wants to express his views on this great achievement for Madonna which is causing a commotion across the internet.
“Madonna‘s entry to the Hall of Fame has been causing controversy in chat rooms and (non-Madonna) message boards across the net. It’s amazing to see all the ancient arguements trotted out by people who think Madonna is still a “novelty act” who won’t last and doesn’t produce proper music. Yes, there are the Aretha’s, the Tina’s, the Cher’s of the last decades but I truly think that Madonna‘s place is well earned and that she has provided a template for more artists, her music has been more diverse and her impact on popular culture greater than almost any other artist in the last 50 years.
And as well as being a performer, she is a musician which is an underrated and misunderstood aspect of her success.
I’m pretty sure she’ll be booed when she takes to the stage to accept her entry to the Hall of Fame as she’s there in front of so many greats like Louis Armstrong and Jimi Hendrix, but to have stayed at the top as she has for so long is amazing in the fickle world of music. Here’s what the Hall of Fame website says about Lady M:
‘Probably the foremost female musician of our lifetime, Madonna is the personification of Girl Power. A singer, dancer, songwriter, choreographer, actress and novelist, for many she’s the ultimate icon…
Born in Michigan in 1958 Madonna started out as a dancer. After success with the 1982 club hit Everybody she released Holiday in 1984. It became a worldwide hit and started an extraordinary career. The queen of reinvention, Madonna’s business sense and staying power have made her an international heroine“.
