Matthew Vaughn, business partner and best man of Guy Ritchie and Swept Away producer had different ideas about the leading role in the remake of Lina Wertmuller‘s film.
Guy wanted Madonna in the role of the heiress trapped on an island with her chauffeur while Matthew preferred Penelope Cruz.
According to Vaughn, Penelope Cruz would have sell the project to investors more easily. After big discussions Guy got his way.
