Madonna Broods in the Park
Madonna and hubby Guy Ritchie enjoyed an early-evening visit to sun-splashed Central Park yesterday with kids Lourdes and Rocco.
The Material Mom, 45, and family arrived in town Friday as she prepares for a six-performance stint at Madison Square Garden beginning Wednesday as part of her racy “Re-invention” world tour.
In a break from her concert preparation, a tired-looking Madonna and her British mate relaxed on a bench near Columbus Circle while Lourdes, 7, and Rocco, 3, enjoyed the company of a few playmates on the slide and swings.
The kids later snacked on ice pops, the remnants of which Ritchie is seen washing off his fair-haired son’s hands.
The angelic Lourdes, seen wearing a spandex ballerina top and a polka-dot skirt, was a little less messy as she took a rest from using the tire swings next to her megastar mom, who wore no make-up, blue jeans and a hat that said “MAFIA”.
The family spent about an hour in the park going almost completely unnoticed, despite a heavy security presence. When it was time to return to their Central Park West pad, the girls went one way and the boys went the other, each taking two of the burly escorts along.
It’ll be back to work Wednesday for Madonna, when she kicks off the Garden gigs with an 8 p.m. show. She’ll be back in action Thursday and round things out with shows June 20, 21, 23 and 24.
The tour is a multicostumed retrospective in which Madonna revisits several portions of her storied career going back to her days as a club girl. The concerts are two hours each and tickets are going for anywhere from $50 to $305 at the box office, and scalper prices will likely be through the roof as the dates near.
