Madonna Covers: Shirley Bassey’s ”You’ll See”

Among the stars that over the years have covered Madonna songs, there is also the acclaimed Shirley Bassey who reprised Madonna’s anthem of self-determination, You’ll See on her 1996 album, The Show Must Go On.
Not a lot of people are familiar with this cover of You’ll See the Madonna and David Foster penned tune originally released by Mrs Ritchie herself on her compilation of best ballads Something to Remember in 1995, but Bassey’s rendition of it is quite impressive and gives the song a gothic and huge feel.
Although the controversial Bassey was impressed by the song, she apparently wasn’t impressed by its author as well. In an interview, when asked about the most disappointing star she had met she stated:
“That would have to be Madonna. I thought she was going to be as outrageous as her videos, but I met her at a function and she was very quiet and really rather disappointing.”
