Madonna experience of a lifetime
A couple of days ago we presented some tour memories from our reader Josh. Today his friend Patti is back with her memories.
“My best friend Josh is Madonna’s biggest fan! Though I already liked Madonna, Josh educated me to a whole new level and a much broader appreciation for Madonna’s music and multi-talents. Josh invited me to go to Madonna’s Atlanta shows and I was very excited to go. Not only getting to see Madonna in concert but to be with my best friend and seeing him get to enjoy himself at something that meant so much to him. You see Josh has lukemia. Josh is such a devoted fan that he missed several of his treatments to get tickets and to go to Madonna’s Atlanta shows.
Josh is very loving and giving and on the Saturday night show he gave two tickets away to stangers because friends he’d bought them for had to cancel at the last minute. It was very exciting as we made our way into Phlipps Arena and found our seats. We had entered every thing we could find online to try to win pit tickets to no avail. Josh had heard that sometimes at the last minute due to no shows sometimes you could upgrade your seats so when we got there he started asking. Someone on the floor security got word to someone in Madonna’s pit crew and the lady told Josh after hearing his story said to come back early the next night and she would see what she could do. The excitement grew as time drew closer for Madonna to appear.
This was the first concert I’d been to in over 20 years. Just being with Josh and seeing him so happy was fantastic but to experience THE BEST CONCERT OF MY LIFE as well added to my experience. I am 43 yrs old and Madonna had me and everyone on their feet dancing jumping singing screaming the place was pure energy. I was blown away !!!!!!!!!!! Josh was jumping up and down and filled with excitement and bliss. Madonna takes ones breath away it was truely the BEST CONCERT!!!!!!!!!!!!! How can one single out a favorite when it was all fantastic? I do have to say though the drum court and bagpipes were at the top of my favs and Madonna burnt the place up playing the guitar and singing Burning Up. I left with a whole new and much much bigger appreciation of Madonna.
On Sunday July 25th Josh and I were the first ones through the gate and went in search of the lady from Madonna’s pit crew. We were introduced to a man named Jason who was head over the Phipps Arena and he told us to wait and he’d see what he could find out for us. After a little while Jason led us to stand in a line and instructed us to give our name to the lady waiting at the front and she would take care of us. We did and she was I think the head of Madonna’s pit crew and at first she thought we had a complaint about our seats the night before but then when she found out Josh was sick she handed us pit passes and sent us on to the next area for instructions about the pit. Her assistant took charge and led Josh by the hand me in tow to the pit. Josh and I felt like we were in a dream. It was all beyond wonderful but the moment I will have etched in my brain forever is when Madonna knelt down looked into Josh’s eyes singing as she touched his hand and him screaming “I love you I love you!” and the happiness and pure joy in his face. On top of that being there myself to share the experience and see Madonna up close.
Madonna is BEAUTIFUL!!! This amazing woman is the picture of beauty and fitness. We got peeks of things going on behind stage and watched Madonna and her dancers hoping to get a closer glimpse. As they danced all around us they would smile and wink and touch our hands. Everyone just buzzed with fun and energy. I wish there were some way that Josh could have met Madonna in person. He has been through so much battling lukemia and last March his house burnt down and he lost all his belongings including his Madonna souviners. I want to thank Madonna , her crew, Jason with Phipps Arena and all who were part of making Josh’s wish come true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am thankful for getting to be a part of it all.
Madonna no one holds a candle to you. Best Concert I’ve ever seen! Thank you
Patti Woolard”
