Madonna is Marvelous

As we told you last week, at the Bellas Artes Palace in Mexico City, there is a exhibition of works of the late artist Alberto Gironella. During his last days, Madonna became his muse.

“Madonna is marvelous and this is what a certain type of people, who think they “own” culture won’t ever admit. If you talk to these people they will tell you that Madonna is a whore that uses her sexual image. But I put her next to Buñuel and Zapata, because I believe in her“, he once declared.
The Painter believed that Madonna is the last surrealist artist of our times, she was his muse, the muse he loved and respected.

Gironella died before he could see Madonna as a happy wife and mother. What struck him most was the loneliness he could see in her heart.
