Madonna Lawyer Rips Warner
“First, Warner Music stabbed Madonna in the back by filing this suit in Delaware just as we were on the verge of settling this. Then, they turn their p.r. department loose to smear her.”
That’s what Bert Fields, Maverck attorney, told Page Six, New York Post.
Fields said Warner honchos used “creative accounting” to come up with losses at Maverick, whose artist roster included Alanis Morissette and Michelle Branch.
“Maverick has earned a handsome profit actually, $100 million over the course of 10 years,” Fields says. He’s also annoyed the case was filed in Delaware, necessitating thousands of frequent-flier miles for Maverick’s small staff and witnesses in L.A.
Fields added that Warner Music might have trouble signing new artists “the way they have treated Madonna. They sued her and then they smeared her. That’s no way to run a business“.
Warner Music had no comment.
