Madonna saves Dad’s vineyard
Pop superstar MADONNA has stepped in to save her father’s ailing wine business – with a $900,000 lump sum.The Material Girl handed over the cash to stop dad Tony Ciccone’s vineyard from closing down. The generous 45-year-old was persuaded to help out because her husband, film director GUY RITCHIE, didn’t want to be without his favourite wine – Ciccone’s 2002 Dolcetto and Pinot Noir. And proud dad Ciccone has made his famous daughter the major shareholder, to thank her for her kindness.
An insider says, “Madonna hasn’t always had the best relationship with her father but she is very close with him now.
“When she learned the company wasn’t doing so well she decided to step into the fray.
“But Tony is a very proud man and didn’t want to accept charity, so he made her a major shareholder in Ciccone Vineyard.
“She was a little reluctant at the start but Guy is a huge fan of the Pinot Noir – Tony has been sending them bottles for Christmas for years.
“He couldn’t bear to be without it, so he convinced Madonna to put some money in.”
