Madonna Wachovia Center – 5th of July Show ECHI Philly Review
Hi Material Boys, Lament Girls, American Boys, Panky Gals, Mad Beast Fans & all,
Last night (july 5th) I was gladly in Philly again to see Madonna at the Wachovia Center.
Like my previous reviews, I will mainly point out last nights difference’s from the other show’s on this tour :
Well not to brag or anything, but last night I saw the show for my third time from the stage right hand “Pit“. I love being in the pit and all the views of the show’s, but being in the pit is always literally the hottest place to be. When the show starts it’s always like 100 degrees (or more) in the pit.
It’s mad hot. Last night was the most exhausting show of the tour for me.
I came out of the pit drenched in sweat, all wet & aching. The past 6 weeks of traveling (following the tour), working, and doing everything I need to do, had caught up with me. I left the pit truly worn out last night. My body was sore, my throat felt sore, and the sweat was running down my pants. Total discomfort but well worth it, as Madonna pumped out another good show. Being in the pit is a dream come true, and I thank god for hearing my prayer’s.
Tonight from the pit my favorite moment was after her “Deeper & Deeper” performance. You
know how after “Deeper & Deeper”, she takes off her headband, and gently throws it on the floor… well what she usually does is she waves it to the people on the stage right hand side of the pit. Last night she did a really good job of teasing the people in the pit by letting them think that she was gonna throw it to one of them. The fans raised their hands far and high, hoping to catch M’s headband.
What was comical of this was that I knew she wasn’t gonna throw it, and give it to a fan. Now what made it the moment of the night for me were Madonna’s facial expressions, and the look of her “bitchness greatness” as she teased & teased waving the headband in her hand… What a mad-hot tease.
It was quite a funny moment. You had to be there and see her face & “Dita” type teasing. Of course as usual she threw the headband on the floor, and not to the fans.”

Another exclusive pit moment last night was after she sang “Imagine“.
Last night she changed the intro to the song again, and she didn’t say anything about the song, or John Lennon. Instead she asked the crowd “Are you all registered to vote??” The crowd cheered yes, and then M sugguested they use the power to vote.
Now after she performed “Imagine“, as she elevated down off the stage, she said “vote, vote mother fuckers vote“. She didn’t say this using her mic. You had to be in the stage right hand pit to witness Madonna silently shout “vote, vote mother fuckers vote”. It was definitely a moment – wow !!!
After Sunday night’s (4th of July) show and the “Rocco Does It Better” t-shirt trade incident, many fans wore assorted custom “Rocco” t-shirts. Does this mean at the forthcoming New Jersey shows, or Atlanta show’s people will be wearing custom “Lola” t-shirts?
Speaking of t-shirts last night when she threw her t-shirt after performing “Crazy For You“, she rolled up the t-shirt, and threw it rolled up (instead of the usual twirling round & round over her head).
The “Bittersweet Symphony” sample was used again during “Don’t Tell Me“, and it looks like it’s staying in the show for the remaining tour dates.
I also noticed last night that Madonna wore body glitter make up around her arms and neck.
Body glitter that I didn’t see or notice in previous show’s.
I wanna finally point out and bring awareness of Madonna’s dancers on this tour. Last night it hit me and I realized how hard they all work on this tour. You have to see from the pit how they sweat and sweat on stage. Also the power and joy of the dancers, performing each show as if it’s the first or second show of the tour.
They really really work hard, and I think most overlook the toll & hard work of these dancers:
Cloud Campos, Reshma Gajjar, Mihran Kirakosion, Paul Kirkland, Tamara Levinson, Raistalla Moise, Dawn Noel, Marlyn Ortiz, Aries Smith, Seth Stewart, Zach Woodlee, Jason Young, and Sergie Ventura.
Great job!!! Thanks for dancing your asses off and bringing & spreading your joy from city to city.
Last but not least on a personal note, last night I made eye contact with Madonna three times. I’m not sure but at one point I think she was trying to read the writing on my t-shirt. I wore a light gray short sleeve t-shirt that said “I WANNA DO IT WITH MADONNA“. I also made eye contact with Donna DeLory who recognizes me everytime she see’s me. Monty saw me again and gave me two big thumbs up for being in the pit again.
“Life is a mystery”, but you can enjoy it. Like Madonna wrote “it’s what you DO that takes you FAR”, and that’s what I’m doing.
See you in New Jersey on Wednesday night.
