Madonna wins over ramblers
Ramblers will be kept off parts of Madonna’s country estate after all, an inquiry was told yesterday.
The Countryside Agency backed down in its battle with the star and husband Guy Ritchie over opening their land to the public.
It will not try to declare six of the 17 disputed areas as open country but will go ahead over the other 11.
The couple say their privacy at £90million Ashcombe House, near Tollard Royal, Wilts, will be breached.
Their QC David Elvin accused the agency of deliberately withholding information by not sending documents outlining “mapping” of the land. The hearing in Shaftesbury, Dorset, continues.
