Madonna’s necklace

The artist formerly known as Madonna shows off her new-found faith with a diamond encrusted necklace.

The 45-year-old mum of two who now likes being called by the Hebrew name Esther, had it made as a sign of devotion to the mystical sect of Kaballah.

It bears the Aramaic letters Aleph Lamed Daled – one of 72 names for God – and is said to protect the wearer.

Madonna opens the European leg of her Reinvention tour on August 14 – including a new extra date at Manchester’s MEN Arena. But with two carats of sparklers around her neck, maybe she’s still a Material Girl at heart.
