Mae West – The Original Bad Girl
Abc will broadcast this coming Saturday a Living Famously BBC documentary dedicated to Mae West, the original Bad Girl.
Both Marilyn and Madonna followed her stiletto prints.
Her famous lines such as “Is that a gun in your pocket, or are you just pleased to see me?“, “When I’m good, I’m very good, but when I’m bad, I’m better” are still quoted today.
Just like Madonna, Mae West was an actress, writer and producer, who starred in a Broadway hit, called Sex, in 1926.
Three years later she invented Diamond Lil, a prostitute with a sharp tongue and a heart of gold that she played for the rest of her career.
Madonna borrowed original jewelry from the Diamond Lil film in her 2003 controversial video for the song “Hollywood”
In her Hollywood film, Night After Night, West replied to a check in girl saying “goodness”, admiring her diamonds, that: “Goodness had nothing to do with it, dearie!.”
