Mama Don’t Stick
This is a report from the first East Rutherford show of the re-Invention World Tour by our friends Barb and Julie at fellow fansite madonnapolis.
“Tonight’s show in Continental Arena in New Jersey was great. The fans were in great form, starting with the whole arena doing the wave simultaneously moments before the show started.
They were so keyed up just before Madonna came out on the stage and she was perfect all night, with only one mishap, during “Into the Groove“, she dropped her stick. She laughed, and without missing a beat continued on.
The whole night was fantastic, and Madonna who seemed full of energy, had fun interacting with the people in the front rows, and in the pits, slapping their hands more often then in other shows.
Once again, the older songs brought the house up to it’s feet, screaming, and dancing along with her. This was especially true for “Like a Prayer” (a classic masterpeace), and “Material Girl” (another classic the fans loved).
She did shout at the fans on the right side to get up before she would sing “Like a Prayer“. Throughout the song “Imagine“, you could see all the cigarette lighters lit.
Madonna wore her ‘Kaballists do it Better‘ shirt, and during “Crazy for You“, she did her dedication of her fans “who stood by her for 20 fuckin years”.
When she sang “Don’t Tell Me“, she delayed the end, and repeated ‘ever’ multiple times.
As in other venues, once the show got under way, the arena became hot and fans alike were sweating it out. “Music” & “Holiday” were a super ending to a super show, and we’ll be there tomorrow night to report the final night from New Jersey.”
Special thanks to Barb and Julie
